DP2’s third album was recorded in Montreux, Switzerland in December and released in March ‘Machine Head’ is considered with justification to be DP2’s best album: the songs are great, the band is tight, disciplined, mature and confident of its abilities, and it rocks/5().

One of Deep Purple's four indispensable albums (the others being In Rock, Machine Head, and Burn), 's Fireball saw the band broadening out from the no-holds-barred hard rock direction of the previous year's cacophonous In junktroputhearumous.comruinomodevemudsoifritenethres.infoinfo machine noises introduced the sizzling title track -- an unusually compact but explosively tight group effort on which Jon Lord's organ truly shined.

In Rock, the last Deep Purple album just before this on eand the first classic from the MarkII line up helped put Deep Purple on the map and it is still a classic today. Machine Head, the album largely held as the greatest Deep Purple ever released was just after this, and is so beyond over rated that it isnt even funny anymore/5(K).
